I carried out my scientific activity during my training as a researcher, both in the Master in Public Health that I completed in the 2012-2013 academic year, and in the subsequent PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health, both completed at the University of Santiago de Compostela.

In my first job, I studied the relationship between hematological cancer and paracetamol consumption through a meta-analysis, in which I found a positive relationship between the two.

Subsequently, I focused my research activity on the risk factors of chronic pain, a disease with a great population impact, which generates a high demand for care both in primary and specialized care and of enormous relevance as a public health problem.

In this area, I have carried out a meta-analysis in which I demonstrated the protective effect of the consumption of polyunsaturated fatty acids on chronic pain. Subsequently, I have focused my research activity on the relationship between social and gender factors and the appearance of chronic pain, seeking an approach focused on the community and the population most vulnerable to this ailment. In my studies, I have identified, both in meta-analyses and in large population-based cohort studies, the relationship between the risk of developing chronic pain and socioeconomic status, workloads, and the burden of home care. In addition, I have studied the way in which sex modifies the relationship between these factors and the probability of developing chronic pain, publishing the first study quantifying this relationship through interaction indicators. Finally, I have also addressed the relationship between these factors and the process of worsening chronic pain, on which hardly any studies have been carried out to date, contributing to increasing knowledge about it, determining how social and gender factors can contribute to the worsening of this ailment once established.

Finally, it is worth noting that the works on chronic pain included in my doctoral thesis presented in 2021, obtained the qualification "cum laude" with International Mention, obtained after carrying out a research stay at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, in which I developed the studies on the public health cohort of the city.

Currently, I work as a full-time care nurse in Primary Care, the Ordes Health Center, of the Integrated Management Area of Santiago de Compostela and Barbanza, belonging to the Servizo Galego de Saúde (SERGAS); position to which I have been linked since 1997 and from which I propose this research project.

In summary, both my scientific and academic activity, mostly focused on chronic pain and during which I acquired knowledge and experience in the development and analysis of epidemiological studies, as well as my professional activity in Primary Care, where I have contact with and knowledge of first-hand information on the target population of this study, justify my experience in the subject matter and type of project that I propose.
